The Thermonator’s flamethrower component is the ARC, which is federally unregulated in the United States — the BATF does not consider flamethrowers a firearm. No NFA tax stamp, weapons license, or FFL dealer required. State-level restrictions only apply in California and Maryland. For more details, visit our FAQ page.
The Thermonator is operated remotely via the included handheld controller with a live first-person video feed. The controller communicates with the unit over WiFi + Bluetooth, with an operational range of up to 350 ft (line of sight) in open conditions. The interface is designed to be intuitive — operators can typically achieve basic mobility and firing within an hour of unboxing. The unit auto-stops and remains in place if the signal is lost.
The Thermonator’s onboard battery delivers approximately 1 hour of active operation on a full charge — longer if the unit is mostly stationary or firing in short bursts. Full charge time from empty is approximately 2.5 hours with the included charger. The Thermonator’s chassis battery is separate from the integrated ARC Flamethrower battery, so both should be charged before extended deployments.
